Now Hiring Director, Musical Director & Choreographer

Do you have a passion for comedy, a flair for the absurd, and a love of the stage? We’re looking for talented, visionary artists to bring Monty Python’s Spamalot to life! This is your chance to be part of one of the most fun and irreverent musicals ever created.

Positions Available:

Director
Guide the creative vision of this hilarious show. Work closely with the cast, crew, and design team to ensure Spamalot’s unique blend of wit, satire, and spectacle hits all the right notes. Bring your leadership, energy, and vision to a fast-paced, fun production.

Your role includes:

  • Creative Vision: Develop and refine the overall artistic direction of the show, including staging, pacing, and comedic style.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the cast, design team, musical director, and choreographer to create a cohesive production.
  • Directing Actors: Guide the cast in performance, helping them bring their characters to life with the right comedic timing and energy.
  • Rehearsal Process: Lead and facilitate rehearsals, providing feedback, adjusting blocking, and ensuring the production stays on schedule and within budget.
  • Problem-Solving: Address any challenges that arise during the rehearsal or performance process with creative and practical solutions.

Ideal Candidate: A director with strong comedic sensibility, experience with musical theatre, and the ability to manage a fast-paced production while fostering a collaborative, creative atmosphere.

Musical Director
Bring the music to life! Lead rehearsals, refine vocal performances, and collaborate with the orchestra to create the perfect soundscape for this riotous comedy. If you have a deep love for musical theatre and an ear for harmony, we want to hear from you.

Your role includes:

  • Vocal Coaching: Work with the cast to perfect individual and ensemble vocal performances, ensuring clarity, pitch accuracy, and comedic timing.
  • Musical Interpretation: Collaborate with the director and choreographer to interpret the music in a way that enhances the comedy and energy of the production.
  • Conducting the Orchestra: Lead the musicians in rehearsals and performances, ensuring synchronization with the cast and maintaining the musical integrity of the show.
  • Rehearsal Planning: Schedule and conduct vocal rehearsals, working alongside the director to keep rehearsals organized and focused.
  • Collaboration: Ensure that the music and choreography complement one another, providing the perfect balance of humor and energy.

Ideal Candidate: A skilled musician with experience in musical theatre, strong leadership abilities, and a deep understanding of how music enhances comedy and storytelling.

Choreographer
Help the cast move, groove, and dance their way through the absurd and hilarious numbers of Spamalot. From slapstick comedy to Broadway-style sequences, bring your creativity and expertise to create memorable choreography that will leave audiences in stitches.

Your role includes:

  • Choreographing Dance Numbers: Create and rehearse choreography for the show’s big dance numbers, such as “The Song That Goes Like This,” “Knights of the Round Table,” and others.
  • Comedy Movement: Design comedic physical movements, slapstick sequences, and exaggerated gestures that reflect the absurd and irreverent tone of Spamalot.
  • Collaborating with Director and Musical Director: Ensure that the choreography fits within the overall vision of the show and complements the music and direction.
  • Teaching Choreography: Lead rehearsals with the cast to teach, refine, and perfect the choreography, ensuring strong execution of both technical and comedic aspects.
  • Maintaining Staging and Safety: Ensure that choreography is staged safely and effectively for all performers, especially in high-energy scenes or intricate dance sequences.

Ideal Candidate: A creative and experienced choreographer with a strong background in both dance and comedy, able to blend traditional musical theatre choreography with slapstick and absurd humour.
